From Charles,
"Something magical happens when Christmas hymns originally in 4 are reimagined in 6. When, in 4, they feel square, predictable, beautiful, yet simple… in 6 they can take on more of a lullaby nature and some ebbing and flowing harmonies can be added. That’s exactly what I’ve done with this arrangement of “In the Bleak Midwinter.” The introduction establishes something almost like a mesmerizing ostinato, which then continues throughout the remainder of the piece while the original melody peacefully sings above it. The perfect music to listen to next to a crackling and warm fire, sipping a hot chocolate, and watching the gentle snowfall outside on Christmas Eve."
